LONELINESS

I’m naked and unafraid, old friend; unmoved in the face of your savagery.

Hold me. I cling to you like a distraught child, while the bruises spread on my skin. There’s nowhere to hide since your shadow has engulfed the millennium, so pick me up already and let me bury my head in your vicious shoulder.

I’ve no need for the shriveled lips and the dead eyes anymore.
